Senior Graphic Designer & Art Director

The Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA) Sponsorship Catalogue was driven by the need to create an engaging, user-friendly, and visually compelling document that could attract potential sponsors to CHIMA’s events, conferences, and programs.

Research and Discovery

The design process began with a deep dive into understanding the needs of both CHIMA and its potential sponsors. The research involved: Identifying Target Audience: The team gained insights into the sponsors CHIMA had historically worked with, as well as new prospects from sectors like healthcare technology, educational institutions, and service providers. Understanding their marketing goals, such as raising brand visibility among healthcare professionals, was key. Competitive Analysis: A review of similar sponsorship catalogues from other professional associations helped to identify industry best practices. This analysis emphasized the importance of visual clarity, the use of infographics, and strong calls to action.

Concept Development

The team moved to conceptualize the catalogue’s structure and visual design. This phase focused on: Catalogue Layout: Organizing the content into digestible sections: an introduction to CHIMA and its community, an overview of sponsorship opportunities, case studies, and detailed information about each package. Visual Design: Creating a design aligned with CHIMA’s brand—clean, professional, and modern. The design used a colour palette of purple to reflect harmony and stability in the healthcare field, while photography and icons helped illustrate key ideas. Content Strategy: Collaborating with CHIMA’s marketing and sales teams to craft content that not only described sponsorship packages but also emphasized how each opportunity would elevate brand awareness across the health information community in Canada.

Prototype and Testing

After initial drafts, prototypes of the catalogue were shared with stakeholders for feedback. User testing involved potential sponsors and internal teams to assess clarity, appeal, and ease of navigation. Adjustments were made based on this feedback, especially around improving the visibility of the call to action and refining the layout for better readability.

Final Outcome

Once the design was finalized, the catalogue was prepared for both digital and print formats. The digital version included interactive elements like clickable links to detailed sponsorship forms, while print copies were created for in-person events and meetings.

The Pan-Canadian Conference on Health Information Sponsorship Prospectus, accompanying the Partnership Catalogue for the Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA), provides detailed information about opportunities for organizations to engage with and support Canada’s premier conference on health information management. This prospectus outlines various sponsorship levels, benefits, and opportunities for visibility, networking, and collaboration within the health information management community. It is designed to help potential partners align their goals with CHIMA’s mission of advancing health information management practices, while contributing to the growth and development of the profession across Canada.
